Remember that article I posted about VIBES? It is an AI-Focused content which acts like new AI-based social media platform where you see Elephants flying and CEO squirrels attending press conferences.
Don’t worry if you haven’t went through it I am re-sharing it over here:- Vibing with Meta
When VIBES dropped, many felt – “Okay! I think now this is the future of AI-powered scrolling”. Well, I think we shouldn’t think things so fast. And here’s the twist – OpenAI just walked in with Sora, and suddenly thinks started to look a bit different, or maybe CONFUSING.
Well, what’s this SORA anyway?
Sora is “peek-a-boo” playing AI-Video generating engine which was long before present within OpenAI’s ChatGPT. And now, is coming in the garb of a brand-new app (invite only now, USA and Canada iOS users). The dances are going to be AI as well in reels. This is per the OpenAI’s Official Release.
With SORA, you can make AI reel-ize the dream of yours:-
- Generate 10-second hyper-real videos just by typing a prompt.
- Drop yourself or your friends into the scene using “Cameo” mode (after a quick identity check — no, you can’t deepfake Elon Musk unless Elon Musk says yes).
- Share videos in a scrolling feed, algorithm-powered just like TikTok or Instagram.
Ah, a studio working would be great to film all these things, but do you need a STUDIO anyway now? It’s now already compressed into an App – with fewer retakes and way less budget.
So what’s special in it? Meta also did the same thing with VIBES.
Well, you’re partly correct, I won’t deny.
Meta launched VIBES recently to push AI-driven short content inside its ecosystem. It’s that now even OpenAI wants a piece of the snack.

Here’s a contrast which will further clarify things:-
Meta Vibes → AI content inside an already massive social media empire (your FB & Insta scrolls).
On the other hand,
OpenAI Sora → A standalone app, directly linked with its Sora 2 model. It’s not just social media; it’s OpenAI trying to own the format.
So yes, it’s Marvel vs DC. Both promising superpowers, both still figuring out their plotlines.
And why you should care
There are some reasons which can definately make you think of AI-driven content in the coming future. How it may transform the world is still a matter seeking a thorough study. Below given are some issues which may make you think:-
Content Explosion – If memes grow on trees now, videos will grow in clouds. Literally.
Brand Potential – Imagine churning out snack ads, promos, or explainer clips without a single camera setup.
Trust Issues – The more realistic AI videos get, the more your audience will ask: “Wait… is this even real?”
Copyright Drama – Disney already said “no thanks” to Sora’s content use. Expect more fireworks here.

The Bigger Picture
The thing actually is becoming a fight between two giants on who is going to take your screen time? As a part of THE BIGGER PICTURE, it’s about who will control the future of ATTENTION.
Meta has a hedge. The SOCIAL MEDIA KING already on top of that owns the crowd. OpenAI is building the tech. Both wants your eyeballs glued. For businesses, students, creators, marketers, and commoners like you and me – this can be a double-edged sword, either exciting or terrifying.
And here I conclude
Personally being a Digital Marketer, I see this less as “toys to play with” and more as tools to redefine content strategy. Also one thing is clear: your feed is about to get a lot weirder – and additionally maybe a lot more powerful.
Until then scroll safe or maybe I should say, Prompt Carefully!
